  • Oli Silk and JJ Sansaverino to Team Up for Branford Concert Series on July 20
    Keyboardist Oli Silk and guitarist JJ Sansaverino have earned numerous jazz accolades throughout their outstanding musical career – Silk as one of the most dynamic entertainers in the genre and a sought after smooth jazz producer while Sansaverino, an outstanding performer, composer, arranger, and musical director in the world of smooth jazz, R & B, world music and fusion. Together, they will unify their talents on July 20th as part of the 2017 Branford Jazz Concert Series.

    In the late 1990’s Oli Silk began writing and recording music as part of a jazz funk duo known as ‘Sugar and Silk’. The pair released 2 albums to much European acclaim and this grabbed the attention of Trippin’N’Rhythm Records’ CEO Les Cutmore, who signed Oli on a multi-album deal which first showcased his debut solo CD ‘So Many Ways’ in 2006.
    Oli now has 5 CD’s to his name, all under the Trippin’N’Rhythm label. The most recent, released in July 2016, is entitled ‘Where I Left Off’ and the first single, top 10 Billboard hit ‘Take Me Away’ features one of Oli’s musical mentors and pals Peter White on guitar. Oli has had many chart topping radio singles over the years, most notably one of the biggest hits of 2009 ‘Chill Or Be Chilled’ and also the 2014 number one hit featuring bassist Julian Vaughn ‘At Your Service’.
    Oli’s credentials as a musical director are also far reaching, most notably for 4 years at the Dubai International Jazz Festival – overseeing some 30 plus artists on the Jazz Garden Stage. When off-stage, Oli is a sought-after smooth jazz producer, composer, and mix engineer whose recent clients include keyboardists Nicholas Cole and Tim Watson, and saxophonists Carl Stanley and Michael J Thomas. Tonight’s performer has also composed music for TV (Oprah Winfrey, MTV, Miami Ink) and currently provides music for smartphone apps for Zynga games.
    “It is both a thrill and an honor to be part of the 2017 Branford Jazz Series, it’s gonna be one heck of a night and I can’t wait to share my music with you all” said Silk.

    Touring the world for the past 25 years, JJ Sansaverino has reached millions with his music and on his upcoming release of his third CD, “International Groove” from Innervision Records, JJ puts forward a stunning selection of original compositions. With the help of a stellar array of musicians and producers, his new single “When I’m With You” topped the radio charts.
    After performing locally in New York City during the late 1980’s, JJ embarked on his first European tour with the popular alternative rock band Heads Up. Upon returning to the States, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston to study Commercial Arranging and Big Band. During his studies at Berklee, JJ was the first and only artist to write an original piece for the well-known Singer’s Showcase(an all-cover music revue). In his senior year he arranged a medley of Sting’s music, which was performed for Sting, Nancy Wilson, and the graduating class at Berklee’ s 1994 commencement ceremonies. JJ graduated cum laude and won the prestigious 1994 Writing Award of the Year.
    Upon his return to New York City, he quickly began earning a reputation as one of the hardest working musicians on the scene. As a recording artist, JJ also recorded TV jingles for numerous clients, including Mercedes Benz, 1-800-Flowers and Citi Bank. He eventually settled in as lead guitarist for Maxi Priest in 2000, immediately embarking on the first of several world tours. In 2002, JJ had the prestigious honor of performing at Sir Paul McCartney’s wedding to Heather Mills. Returning home he became a regular on NBC’s Today show, in addition to performances on Good Morning America and other popular morning shows. He also performed at several notable venues, including Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, The Beacon Theater, and The Kennedy Center for President Bush in Washington, D.C.
    In 2005, JJ teamed up with powerhouse producers , Alex Valenti (NYC) and Ze’Luis Oliveira (Rio de Janeiro) to form ALZEJO music. By fusing urban beats and Brazilian flavor with fresh horn arrangement’s and JJ’s unique guitar style, his debut CD, Sunshine After Midnight, was created. Featuring many of NYC’s finest musicians, the cd presents a diverse showcase of all original music with a radio-friendly and street-savvy sound. JJ quickly started performing his new music and selling out the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club numerous times.
    A few years later in 2012, JJ signed to record label Innervision Records, releasing his first single, “Swing Easy”. After distributing his CD worldwide, he started performing with Jazz greats such as Ricky Lawson, Victor Bailey, and more. In early 2014, he released his Sophomore CD, “Waiting For You”, featuring the hit radio singles, “Gravy Train” and “Back Talk”. Shortly thereafter, he signed endorsement deals with ESP Guitars and Fuchs Amplifiers.
    Currently, JJ continues to perform with numerous Jazz greats such as Eric Darius, Euge Groove, Nick Collione, Brian Simpson and more while simultaneously touring with his own band. Collaborating with different artists and producers on his current project, JJ is excited about his next CD, “International Groove.”
